One Simple Yes!!!!

Sometimes the small things seem insignificant.  As a member of a small church that has been a beacon of hope in the Whitney community for 97 years. We are now without a pastor and I ask myself a simple question. How will we remain strong and continue to make a difference in our community and around the world.  What do I know about continuing serving in a church without a pastor? Sure, I had several years of training and leading but more than that, I trust God’s Word and how true and powerful enough it is to bring life to our church and to every person. So I said yes. Yes, I’ll serve You, Jesus, by serving the Lord and Church with all my heart, soul and might.
The next steps are both hard and satisfying as we weekly see the Lord give His wisdom in structure, providing faithful preachers, direction for presenting the Gospel  in a understanding and powerful way, and seeing others grow and improve how they are living. In fact, we have a new excitement! Most of all, we visibly noticed the change in numbers and in their faith within the church and community that we are privileged to be a part of.
What seemed to be an insignificant 97 years has become part of the foundation of the Whitney Community?  Only God can take our simple yes and build on obedience and faithfulness to change lives for eternity. The significance of Peter’s decision to follow Jesus wasn’t noticeable immediately. Yet that decision is still impacting us today. The importance of David developing his skills with a slingshot while caring for his father’s sheep was insignificant until he was facing Goliath. Yet that act of faith is still instilling courage for us to step into battle, knowing the victory belongs to the Lord.
Don’t despise the small things. One simple faithful ‘yes’ can change history and eternity for the Glory of our God. We may not think attending all the services is significant but your simple act of obedience is impacting lives. When we actually decide to wrap our heads around John 3:30 He must increase and I must decrease. We will then realize all the simple and faithful yes’s God will turn into something great for his Glory. As I think how “Whitney Free Will Baptist Church” grew and stayed a solid growing church despite its ups and downs? The answer is simple. The Lord only needs one simple and faithful yes. When we decide to step aside and simply say yes Lord he then can do some great things in Whitney. Realizing I am nothing and knowing that I can only make a difference in the life of our church by simply saying yes to the Lord.  Whitney Church will continue to grow and develop into a life changing ministry if we all simply say yes!

“His master replied, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!’ Matthew 25:23
